Really lovely day today in Delft.  We had coffee, walked around and had lunch and went out to see the Strandbeesten.

Today we went to Delft and made our way to the workshop of Theo Jansen who makes increadible kinetic structures.  We met Theo and talked with him briefly as he described the “beasts” and showed us how they work.  He’s currently working on an “apendage” that will feel the ground for soft sand and keeps the animal from wandering into the sea.  Really neat sculptures and Theo was very nice to take a few minutes from his work to talk to us.

Here’s a youtube video which shows the beasts in action.
